Wang YuHan drew inspiration from the concept of a greenhouse, a space where plants grow from seeds to beautiful flowers. The designer envisioned a coffee shop where customers could immerse themselves in a world of flowers, creating their own floral art while enjoying their coffee. The design blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, offering a unique experience that combines floral classes and a coffee shop.
The Fuji Flower stands out for its unique properties. It is more than just a coffee shop; it is a space that brings floral designs into daily life. Wang YuHan believes that just as we need a cup of latte every day, we also need a flower to uplift our spirits. The shop offers a different lifestyle, one of slowness and appreciation for the beauty around us. Apart from selling beverages and flowers, the shop also provides floral lectures.
The design was realized using recycled wood, black painted steel parts, grey glass, grey mirror, and epoxy. The technical specifications of the design are a width of 17545mm, a depth of 5057mm, and a height of 3800mm. The design project started in October 2016 in Taipei and was completed in December 2016 in the same city.
Wang YuHan faced several challenges in realizing this design. Considering the growing environment of plants, the designer set up an automatic spraying system, sewerage system, and temperature/humidity sensor on the wall surface and ceiling. The steel flowerpots were designed to avoid soil flowing into the drain pipe. The result is a space that not only serves as a store but also contributes to urban greening.
The Fuji Flower is a testament to Wang YuHan's creativity and innovation. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a prestigious recognition given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is a testament to the design's strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill.
